Il lago Achensee, chiamato anche "Fiordo delle Alpi", si trova a Jenbach ed è il lago più grande del Tirolo. Il colore dell'acqua varia da verde smeraldo a blu ultramarino, dipende da come il sole splende sull'acqua, proprio così il famoso lago Achensee si presenta ai visitatori. Grazie all'ottima qualità d'acqua, la vista sott'acqua raggiunge fino a 10 metri. Con una profondità di 133 metri su un'area di 6,8 km² il lago, lungo 9,4 km e largo 1 km, contiene oltre 481 metri cubi di acqua! Il lago Achensee non viene solo chiamato "Fiordo delle Alpi" ma anche il "Mare del Tirolo", dato che offre condizioni perfette per gli appassionati di vela e windsurf. La temperatura d'acqua è relativamente bassa e non sale sopra i 20°C, soltanto la punta meridionale del lago raggiunge al massimo i 22°C. E proprio qui si trovano anche numerosi bagnanti durante l'estate.
