La contemplazione del mare è una
pratica antica quanto l'uomo [...] le arti
visive non sono rimaste affatto distanti
dal tema, mostrandoci mari calmi o in
tempesta, mari assolati o notturni. [...]
Sono gli uomini che vicino al mare vivono
che con esso hanno un rapporto più
profondo. Vi sono legati da un sentimento
spesso inespresso, ma sempre presente
nel loro intimo, che crea in essi una
profonda risonanza interiore. [...] A
questa categoria di uomini appartiene lo
sciclitano Renato Iurato, che come il suo
conterraneo Piero Guccione, non riesce
ad allontanarsi dal suo tema d'elezione: il
mare per l'appunto. [...] Le sue fotografie,
le sue onde, sono tutto questo e altro
ancora. Sono pazienza dell'attesa. Sono
spirito di osservazione. Sono delicatezza
di sentimenti. Sono anima fatta immagine.
