Nei satra di Majuli viene tramandata la tradizione Vaishnavita che ha tra sui precetti quello di trasmettere l' amore nei confronti di Vishnu ( considerato la divinità suprema, animatore e conservatore degli esseri viventi a cui sono sottomessi anche gli altri dei ) attraverso le danze e rappresentazioni sacre a cui si addestrano fin da bamabini. In ogni rappresentazione, oltre a Lord Vishnu sono presenti le mogli interpretate rigorosamente da uomini che, dal momento in cui iniziano le operazioni del trucco, si calano completamente nel loro ruolo. Il 9 gennaio partiremo per un bellissimo viaggio durante il quale, oltre ai cacciatori di teste, alle tigri nelle Sunderbans e ad un importante festa hiunduista, ci riporterà sull' isola di Majuli dove dormiremo presso un satra per documentarne le usanze ed i riti.
