Il maschio è di colore rosso rame con riflessi viola sul margine delle ali. La pagina inferiore dell'ala posteriore è grigio cenere e ha una serie di ocelli sulla pagina inferiore dell'ala anteriore disposti in una fila ordinata. GENERAZIONI: univoltina con sfarfallamenti tra giugno e luglio. HABITAT: prati umidi e acquitrini. STATUS: molto localizzata e scarsa.
