Dopo l'armistizio di Cassibile dell'8 settembre 1943 le province italiane di Udine, Trieste, Gorizia, Pola, Fiume e Lubiana vennero sottoposte al diretto controllo del Terzo Reich con il nome di Zona di operazione dell'Adriatisches K?stenland (OZAK). La Risiera di San Sabba, a Trieste, è stata trasformata in un lager nazista utilizzato per il transito, la detenzione e l'eliminazione di un gran numero di detenuti, in prevalenza militari, partigiani, prigionieri politici ed Ebrei. Non è stato facile visitare questo luogo emotivamente molto forte, ma è utile tenere sempre presenti gli orrori che la guerra porta con sé... Ricordare per non dimenticare...Il freddo e tristezza è percepibile sin dall'ingresso e per tutto il percorso.
