Questo grosso granchio dalle caratteristiche chele a scudo è un granchio scatola gigante (Calappa calappa) . La colorazione comune è quella bruna a tinta unita ma , molto raramente , può presentare puntini rossi in quantità variabile ; questo esemplare era particolarmente grosso e dalla colorazione insolitamente sgargiante ! Scatto eseguito in notturna nelle acque di Zambonaguita - Negros Oriental - Filippine.
