Costruita nel VI secolo per volete dell'imperatore Giustiniano, era una semplice cisterna per la raccolta dell'acqua. Riscoperta solo nel XVI secolo e più volte restaurata, è diventata una magnifica attrazione turistica. Vi si accede dopo una breve discesa e lo spettacolo è veramente unico: una passerella metallica permette di passeggiare tra le oltre 300 colonne, mentre sotto il livello dell'acqua e' inferiore al metro. Lo spettacolo è favorito da alcuni giochi di luce e dalla messa in rilievo di alcune particolarità, tipo le due teste di Medusa (una rovesciata e l'altra coricata) o una colonna molto scenografica.
