L'Ederina dei muri, o Cymbalaria muralis, appartiene alla famiglia delle Scrofulariaceae. È una pianta tipica dei muri su cui cresce per mezzo di radici avventizie, dotate di una specie di ventose. Le foglie sono lucide, cuoriformi con 3 o 5 lobi, lungamente picciolate. L'ederina produce bellissimi fiori tra marzo ed ottobre, di un delicato color violetto, a forma di tubo, che termina ripiegato a formare quasi due labbra in cui si inserisce una gobba gialla. I frutti, piccole capsule nere portate su lunghi peduncoli, a maturazione piegano e “corrono” lungo la parete fino a trovare una piccola fessura dove far sviluppare i semi. Il nome del genere deriva dal latino cymbalum o dal greco kymbalon, uno strumento musicale cavo simile ad un moderno tamburello richiamato dalla forma delle foglie concave; invece il nome specifico muralis si riferisce al suo habitat tipico. Proprietà e curiosità: l'infuso ottenuto con i suoi fiori era utilizzato un tempo contro la calcolosi renale, mentre le sue foglie fresche venivano poste sulle ferite per le proprietà emostatiche e cicatrizzanti. -------Tutte le foto contenute in queste gallerie sono copyright Sergio Bartolomeo e non possono essere utilizzate in alcuna forma senza il consenso dell'autore.
