Il Black Diamond ("Den Sorte Diamant" in danese) è un imponente edificio, disposto su sette piani per circa 20.000 mq. di superficie, che si fa notare per la sua modernità all'interno dell'isola Slotsholmen nel distretto dell'Inner City. Qui è collocata l'antica Libreria Reale Danese e prende il nome dalla forma irregolare e spigolosa determinata dal materiale di costruzione: blocchi di granito nero, lavorato in Italia. La facciata centrale, composta da vetri, è spezzata in due da un vero e proprio "crepaccio" che permette l'entrata e la diffusione della luce naturale in gran parte della superficie interna. Oltre alla funzione di libreria, l'edificio ospita diverse strutture ed attività pubbliche, tra le quali meritano di essere ricordate l'auditorium, con più di 600 posti, che ospita spesso concerti di musica jazz ed il museo nazionale della fotografia.
