I festeggiamenti di San Giorgio, compatrono della città di Modica (Rg) insieme a San Pietro, si svolgono il fine settimana successivo al 23 aprile e sono caratterizzati dall'attaccamento dei cosiddetti Sangiorgiari al simulacro del santo, che viene tradizionalmente portato a spalla per le vie della città, in un clima festoso sempre crescente. I Sangiuggiari (devoti di San Giorgio), acerrimi nemici dei Sampittrari (devoti di San Pietro), portano a spalla il simulacro del venerabile per le vie della città
