at 34mm, 1/60 f/11.0, ISO 250, hand held. Auschwitz, Poland.

Dearest John,
I am convinced that, unfortunately, we are still paying for the atrocities of the past with the aggravating circumstance that it seems that history has taught us nothing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to take this image of mine and for appreciating it.
Hello and have a nice day,
Paolo

Congratulations Paolo!
A very overwhelming image, which, even through the caption, shakes you inside and remembering makes you reflect and move thinking how still, continuously, in our days, so many human beings suffer with wars.
Greetings,
Luciana

Dearest Luciana,
I totally agree with what you write and it is absurd to see that even today billions of dollars (and euros) are spent to kill human beings instead of helping them to live.
It is truly a world that "turns" in reverse. :-(
Thank you very much for the beautiful comment and for appreciating this image of mine.
A very affectionate greeting and a good day,
Paolo

Dear Paolo: If I stop at the photo, I
fully agree with the choice of color and framing, let's say unusual compared to those we know well of these places
, but if it is true that without the didactic support perhaps he would not have had the immediate understanding of the context and of all that is dramatic behind a simple image, it is undeniable that it has achieved the goal that I think you had set yourself at the time of publication
The appreciation, reflection and sharing of all those who have preceded me are confirmation of this
: These are the small contributions that we individuals can make to ensure that the memory is not lost and that this is useful to the new generations.
Best regards
Giorgio

Dear friends, Ezio Giorgio

I totally agree with your thoughts
Angelo

thank you very much for the beautiful and very welcome comments and for having appreciated this image of mine by sharing a moment that if it is certainly of sadness and indignation for the past we hope can be, with the readiness of memory, also of hope for the... future.
A very affectionate greeting and a good weekend,
Paolo

It was like a black hole that swallowed light and colors as well. One wonders how it was possible to reach the bottom of the abyss. We have come back from it, yes, but with an indelible stain on the human race.
The ashes of the bodies were scattered on the ground so that the soldiers and torturers would not slip on the ice, as a final scar...

Dearest Giordano,
thank you very much for your appreciation and sharing.
In this very sad place I got caught up in the emotion and I had a lot of difficulty in taking some pictures.

An unusual, but very eloquent and effective, way of representing the most infamous annihilation camp. A great idea done in the best possible way. Have a great start to the week. Gianfranco
