Il “Lago Blu” - chiamato così per il colore delle sue acque cerulee che deriva da un minerale presente sul fondo - è situato a circa mezz'ora di cammino o alcuni minuti di macchina dal centro di Breuil Cervinia, sulla strada regionale che sale da Valtournenche. Contornato da larici secolari, il piccolo specchio d'acqua, essendo alimentato da acqua sorgiva, è sempre limpidissimo e consente al Cervino di specchiarvisi dentro quelle rare volte in cui le nuvole non lo nascondo. Dalla foto - che ho scattata il 24 giugno u.s. - di “blu” si vede poco o niente perché il colore dominante in questo periodo è il verde intenso dei larici che contornano il laghetto e che vi si riflettono sopravanzando il "blu" che invece domina soprattutto ad inizio primavera e fine estate.
