Il Ruchè è senza dubbio uno dei vini autoctoni per eccellenza della zona del Monferrato Astigiano, un vino tra i più rari tra quelli coltivati in questo territorio. Si dice che il nome derivi dall'oggi scomparso convento di San Rocco (San Roc) nel Comune di Castagnole Monferrato, vicino al quale dei monaci cistercensi provenienti dalla Borgogna, ne impiantarono il vitigno, intuendone l'habitat ideale. Altri documenti fanno derivare il nome dal dialetto piemontese “Rochè”, che indica pendii collinari scoscesi, adibiti a vigneto e rivolti al sole. Il Ruchè ha ottenuto il riconoscimento della Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita che comprende in tutto sette Comuni, fra i quali Montemagno - dove ho scattato la foto - con oltre 160 ettari coltivati.
