La città di Imperia nacque il 21 Ottobre 1923 dall'unione di 11 comuni, i più importanti dei quali erano Oneglia e Porto Maurizio. Il promontorio del Parasio è il centro medievale di Porto Maurizio. Ricco di opere architettoniche, tra cui chiese, antichi palazzi, piazzette e caratteristici vicoli tipicamente liguri (carrugi), il Parasio offre scorci mozzafiato come solo un borgo affacciato sul mare possiede.
