Le sue origini risalgono al VII secolo, anche se l'attuale aspetto, in stile romanico è databile al XII sec. All'interno si trova la fonte battesimale originale dove furono battezzati, sia Papa Pio II che Papa Pio III. Sul capitello dell'ultima colonna di sinistra c'è una delle poche e rare rappresentazioni originali del serpente Regolo, arrivate fino a noi. Io, da ragazzo, vi ho promesso amore e fedeltà, fino a che è durata, ad alcune fidanzatine del tempo.
