Questa chiesetta si trova a Velezzo Lomellina (PV) e fu costruita nella prima metà del tredicesimo secolo. È realizzata in mattoni e ha un ampio avanportico con delle panche, perfette per riposarsi dopo una bella camminata come quelle che io faccio spesso. Il nome “Madonna dal Soc” sembra ricondurre al motivo per cui la chiesa fu costruita. Si narra infatti che una giovane sordomuta vide apparire la Madonna su un tronco (“soc” in dialetto lomellino) che galleggiava in mezzo al torrente Agogna, che scorre poco più avanti rispetto al luogo in cui ora si trova il piccolo santuario. La ragazza, cercando di recuperare il tronco, cadde nell'acqua e riuscì a salvarsi per miracolo. Ma, soprattutto, riacquistò la parola e, raccontato l'accaduto ai concittadini, questi riuscirono a recuperare il ceppo e a portarlo nella chiesa di Velezzo. La reliquia, tuttavia, fu ritrovata il giorno seguente sul luogo del miracolo, dove si decise di lasciarla e dove, infine, fu costruito il santuario della Madonna dal Soc.
