No lo Smeraldino, come il più comune Bufo Bufo, non è pericoloso, ma bisogna fare attenzione nel caso un cui lo si tocchi a mani nude: non mettere le mani in bocca e non strofinarsi gli occhi.
Non si muore e non ci si avvelena, ma il rischio di mal di stomaco e qualche problemino intestinale si possono manifestare. Infatti ciò che le loro ghiandole secernono è un prodotto comunque tossico, ma non letale per l'uomo, ma potrebbe essere molto pericoloso per un bambino o addirittura letale per un cane piccolo.
La cosa migliore è raccogliere e spostare i rospi con dei guanti in vinile senza polvere, ma se vedo un rospo in mezzo la strada e in quel momento non ho i guanti, lo salvo dalle auto. I guanti hanno lo scopo principale di non danneggiare la pelle dell'anfibio che è molto delicata. Grazie Stefano
