La Torre del Ponte della Città Vecchia (Torre delle polveri) fu costruita insieme al Ponte Carlo nel XIV secolo ed è considerata uno degli edifici gotici più belli al mondo. Inizialmente aveva la funzione di arco di trionfo lungo la Via reale, dunque una finalità soprattutto estetica. L'intera torre si caratterizza per la sua ricca decorazione figurale ed ornamentale. Dal ballatoio a 47 metri di altezza si gode di una stupenda vista non solo sul centro storico di Praga, ma anche sulla Torre del Ponte di Malá Strana.
