Purtroppo la storia del ghiacciaio orientale di Fellaria è segnata dal costante e rapido ritiro a causa dei cambiamenti climatici, infatti nel 2006 il ghiacciaio si è spaccato in una parte superiore e una inferiore, formando un laghetto glaciale con piccoli iceberg. Prima era un unico corpo e oggi rappresenta un "palcoscenico del tempo" che mostra la sua evoluzione, con la parte inferiore che si ritira ulteriormente e la superiore che è ancora viva grazie alle cascate che scendono dalla parete.
