Chiesa di San Nicola. Posta vicino ad una delle antiche porte del paese, è il principale monumento storico di Castro dei Volsci. Conserva tracce rilevanti di affreschi, alcuni contemporanei alla sua edificazione (metà VI sec. d.C), quando era un modesto oratorio. Dal 1108 fu inventariata tra i possedimenti della Diocesi Verolana. La chiesa, ben conservata e recentemente restaurata, è un esempio di architettura paleocristiana dell'Alto Medioevo, di cui trasmette l'intima e vibrante religiosità. Un'architettura che, rimodellata da rifacimenti successivi, subì l'influenza dell'Arte Benedettina e poi Romanica. Di notevole pregio storico e artistico i cicli pittorici del XIII sec., disposti sulle pareti principali, con scene dell'antico e nuovo testamento. L'ipotesi più recente e accreditata li attribuisce ad un lavorante della bottega del maestro delle Traslazioni di Anagni, il quale mostrava di conservarne temi e modi di stile bizantino, ma ne traduceva la lezione con tecnica sintetica e quasi impressionista.
