Nella bassa vercellese, a breve distanza da Pertengo, in direzione Costanzana, sorge il piccolo Santuario della Madonna d'Oropa, eretto nel 1742 in seguito ad un fatto prodigioso avvenuto nel luogo dove sorgeva un pilastro con l'immagine della Madonna d'Oropa. Si dice che il 2 febbraio, festa della Madonna "Candelora", nonostante il freddo pungente e la neve, alcuni viandanti videro qui un biancospino con i fiori e i frutti maturi. I padri lateranensi di Sant'Andrea di Vercelli considerarono prodigioso l'avvenimento e decisero di costruire questo piccolo santuario, oggi meta di numerose processioni.
