Nell'alta Valle Cervo, territorio montano lungo il corso dell'omonimo fiume in provincia di Biella, si trova un piccolo comune (appena 93 abitanti) definito da molti come il borgo più misterioso d'Italia. Rosazza, questo il nome del paesino, si trova in una stretta striscia di terra tra la Valle del Lys e la Valsesia, un tempo conosciuta con il nome di Valle d'Andorno, circondata dalle Alpi Pennine. La sua notorietà e il suo legame con l'esoterico e il magico sono legati alla figura di Federico Rosazza, Senatore del Regno, già membro della Giovane Italia mazziniana e Gran Maestro Venerabile della massoneria biellese. Federico Rosazza fu famoso in particolare per aver fatto costruire molte opere per la popolazione della Valle Cervo. In particolare, in queste opere si riscontrano numerosi elementi e simboli legati alla massoneria e all'occultismo. Interessi questi che il filantropo e politico italiano condivideva con un suo grande amico, il pittore e architetto Giuseppe Maffei, originario di Graglia, altro piccolo comune in provincia di Biella. Sembra infatti che, il Gran Maestro Venerabile della massoneria biellese, tenesse le riunioni proprio presso la torre civica del Palazzo comunale di Rosazza che si vede in foto.
