Belgio - Per la maggior parte dei visitatori il Minnewater e il suo bellissimo parco sono l'ingresso alla città di Bruges. Questo corso d'acqua è stato un bacino da dove le navi provenienti da tutto il mondo allora conosciuto, anche da posti come la Russia venivano carichi di carichi di lana, vino, spezie e sete e ripartivano con il pregiato carico di panno fiammingo. Minnewater è un lago canalizzato e dal ponte del 1740 si può già godere di una bella vista panoramica sulla città. Per merito dei dintorni idilliaci è per lo più indicato come 'il lago dell'Amore o degli innamorati', dalla parola olandese 'Minne' che significa appunto amore.
