Il monumento risale alla metà del V secolo a.C. ed è tuttora noto come Tempio di Nettuno anche se si sa che non era dedicato a quest'ultimo. Gli oggetti rinvenuti hanno infatti permesso di stabilire che il tempio era dedicato ad Hera Argiva, dea della fecondità e della maternità.
