Max Gazzè sta raccontando questa favola in questi giorni a Sanremo: La leggenda di Pizzomunno e Cristalda. La storia nasce sulle spiagge pugliesi di Vieste, un borgo di pescatori con le case incorniciate sul mare. Secondo la leggenda Pizzomunno era un bellissimo giovane, alto, forte e affascinante tanto che nessuna donna poteva resistergli. Cristalda non era da meno. Con i suoi lunghi capelli biondi e un viso angelico aveva una bellezza più unica che rara. Tra loro nasce una dolcissima storia d'amore. Pizzomunno però è un pescatore, quindi passa la maggior parte delle sue giornate in mare e viene continuamente tentato dalle sirene che vogliono ammaliarlo e sedurlo. Secondo la leggenda, i pescatori erano soggetti alle insistenti attenzioni delle sirene che popolavano l'azzurro mare di Vieste e che miravano soltanto a prendersi le loro sfortunate vite. La stessa cosa accadde a Pizzomunno che, in diverse occasioni, si trova a fronteggiarle. Per convincerlo, le sirene si offrono di diventare sue serve e di vivere con lui negli abissi. Ma lui, innamorato e fedele come non mai a Cristalda, rifiuta e paga a caro prezzo questo affronto fatto alle creature marine. Umiliate e infuriate, le sirene si vendicano nel modo più malvagio. Così, mentre i due innamorati sono stretti in un abbraccio al chiaro di luna in riva al mare, le sirene riemergono dagli abissi e portano via Cristalda. Pizzomunno è così distrutto dal dolore che il suo corpo rimane pietrificato trasformandosi in un enorme monolite che ancora oggi troneggia sulla spiaggia di Vieste. Altre bellissime leggende: Al monolite, alto circa 25 metri, è stato dato proprio il nome del giovane innamorato, il Pizzomunno, che imperioso si staglia sulla costa pugliese e che l'ha resa famosa nel mondo per l'inconfondibile panorama. Secondo la leggenda però l'incantesimo viene rotto ogni cento anni e per una notte sola, il 15 agosto dove i due innamorati possono finalmente incontrarsi e amarsi. Una storia con un finale davvero inaspettato.

Pizzomunno!!! Great! I was at this beach for the summer holidays in ' 97 and ' 98, Vieste a beautiful location. An anecdote: As soon as the lifeguard arrived he assigned us an umbrella under the Pizzomunno ". .. so you can see it right! "he said to me, to whom I replied:" ...
