Thank you for dropping by, Maurizio. Although obviously 'staged' in the sense that the children were given Christmas hats to wear, that is the only element of the image that was set up. I was walking around a slum, meeting with and talking to the people who were struggling to make a living there, so very much an authentic environment. I will have had only moments to get my shot (the children were briefly entranced by the camera and white 'mzungu' faces), so f/8 was probably chosen as a 'safe' option, especially as the background is not obtrusive, so didn't need to be blurred out. Thanks for the explanation Ann, in my ignorance I thought about the fact that the subjects were two and not only one

Maurizio Grazie per la spiegazione Ann, nella mia ignoranza pensavo al fatto che i soggetti erano due e non uno solo saluti Maurizio |

I'm pleased that you read my explanation, Maurizio, and responded, although I confess I am confused by your words “ in my ignorance I thought about the fact that the subjects were two and not only one „ .... Not to worry though - Google Translate often causes much confusion - or maybe it's nothing to do with the translation and I simply don't understand, as clearly there are two children (subjects)......!
