Hidrangea quercifoglia. Scoperta nel sud-est degli Stati Uniti, fu introdotta in Inghilterra nel 1803. Ampio arbusto con altezze fino a 3 metri. Il nome della specie deriva dalla particolare forma dell'ampia foglia che è lobata, colore inizialmente di un verde medio, pian piano scurisce per poi in autunno tingersi di rosso scuro a partire dal margine verso l'interno. Porta panicoli molto grandi “fino a 35 cm. di lunghezza” coperti di fiori sterili dai grandi sepali bianco-crema che si tingono di rosa acceso a maturazione. Dal giardino di mia moglie.
