Quando si ha un cane, non si è mai soli. Il mio vive nella nostra casa di campagna in quel di Monopoli, non posso tenerlo a Milano con me, perché mi sposto continuamente e non lo lascerei a nessuno, perché soffrirebbe. Vive con la famiglia di mia sorella, è circondato da tanto amore, è viziato e coccolato non solo dalle mie sorelle ma da tutti i nostri amici, nipoti e bambini. Purtroppo mi vede raramente, solo quattro, cinque volte l'anno, ma non per questo mi dimentica. Quando mi vede, ha il potere di farmi commuovere fino alle lacrime, mi salta addosso, mi bacia, mi abbraccia con le sue zampone, non si riesce a tenerlo fermo. “Addio, dice mio nipote, è arrivata la sua padrona, adesso non esiste più nessuno”. Tutte le mattine salta in macchina con me e sta in giro tutto il giorno, fa perfino la guardia alla mia attrezzatura fotografica, quando mi allontano in cerca di nuovi scatti. Basta che gli dica: “ Non puoi venire, stai qui e guarda lo zaino”, capisce all'istante, mi guarda con i suoi occhi dolci e pieni d'amore e allunga la zampa che raccolgo nella mia mano.
