Ospitale paese di media valle, Vernante è la porta dell'alta Val Vermenagna. Attilio Mussino, il più famoso illustratore del Pinocchio di Collodi, ha trascorso in questa piccola località gli ultimi anni della sua vita. Oggi Vernante ricorda affettuosamente lo "zio di Pinocchio" con i murales che decorano le case e le vie del centro storico. Più di cento dipinti firmati da due pittori locali decorano le case del paese ripercorrendo i principali avvenimenti della storia del celebre burattino bugiardo e regalano un aspetto fiabesco alle vie del paese.
