Stavo fotografando un paesaggio di montagna a Engstlenalp, presso Meiringen, nella Svizzera centrale, quando ho inteso una serie di fischi che mi bucavano le orecchie. Era il grido di allarme di una marmotta, appena uscita dalla tana per avvertire i suoi vicini della presenza di un intruso! Non ne avevo mai vista una così da vicino e ho approfittato del 24-200 per passare immediatamente da grandangolo a teleobiettivo e effettuare una serie di tre scatti in rapida sequenza. Questo mi sembra il più convincente. Un attimo dopo la marmotta era rientrata nella sua tana.
