Martedi 6 Agosto. Il secondo giorno del mio viaggio, con tutta la famiglia facemmo la scalata a Walla Crag in una giornata completamente grigia di cui vi ho proposto già la foto “Just a typical English day”. Ma l'amaro in bocca mi era rimasto dato le brutte condizioni meteo; mi ero ripromesso che se ci fosse stata la previsione di un alba suggestiva sarei andato in solitaria a rifarmi questa ascesa di 6 km per raggiungere questo spettacolare punto di vista sul Darwentwater. E così è stato: l'alba del 6 Agosto si prometteva molto bella con sole e nuvole già la sera prima. Non ci ho pensato due volte e ancora al buio sono partito in solitaria percorrendo un bel sentiero nel bosco per poi arrivare alle prime luci dell'alba sul pianoro di Walla Crag. Un luogo selvaggio e spettacolare dove ero presente solo io, il vento e qualche pecora in un atmosfera da medioevo. Ho aspettato quasi un ora affinchè i raggi di sole potessero illuminare la verde vallata sottostante e Keswick e quando si è accesa mi sono illuminato d'immenso.
