Sabine Nights sent on October 11, 2024 (4:00) by Claudio Ricci. 83 comments, 1328 views. [retina]

at 12mm, 0.4 sec f/2.8, ISO 8000, hand held.

Yes, it is a good compromise in terms of cost and performance.

Just think that a few days after I got the OM-1 (3/12/23) the mk II of the same came out (I didn't know it, I should have read various rumors), but it makes improvements in a field that interests me little (autofocus with tracking and things like that, and my shots of birdlife are very rare and of "easy" birds).
The performance of the OM-1 is equal and even superior in some areas to those of the other two FF and APS machines. The AI noise reduction then bridges the difference that the M43 sensor had with the other two (more noise at high iso).
And then these lenses are very advantageous.

Instead, I am very interested in tracking and pro capture! Try it and you will be hooked too!

The night sky and the lawn lit up a bit clash me. Anyway, do well to experiment with the functions of your new gem! Keep up the good work!

Thank you Francesco, as I had written to others, I tried in the post to pull down the light of the lawn: the photo lost a lot, becoming dark and insignificant, at least in my eyes.
For Nadia: I tried tracking, for my uses it seems to me to work very well, unlike that of the D800, which for me remains a big machine even twelve years after its release but which is evidently almost exclusively suited for stationary subjects. My photos are 90% and more with still subjects...
Pro capture: never used yet... Try.

Beautiful image, very beautiful light contrasts that highlight all the focal planes of the image.
Many congratulations Claudio for the beautiful achievement.

I just got off the phone with Manfrotto. They are worried and are planning to convert to producing canes for seniors MrGreen
Congratulations Claudio ;-)

:-D :-D
Well, from Manfrotto and other similar manufacturers they can still rest assured... certain types of photography will always require a tripod, and then many people have the "acute tripod", unlike me... I see who uses the tripod even in situations like 1/200 f8 iso 100 in broad daylight :-)
What leaves me amazed is then to see photos with the tripod even at, I know, 3-5 seconds f8 iso 1600 or 3200 (!!)... Unless of course it is one of those rare situations in which you have to do it if you want a still image and not the "trails": the Milky Way and the like.
Thank you and greetings.

Sometimes also, if there is wind, the moving leaves give a sloppy effect to a landscape. It is then difficult to photograph yourself without leaving a speed a little fast, and this, despite the use of a tripod. Finally, I understand you, I am like you, I like the raised hand ;-)
Cheers,
Renaud

I like it very much. Of course you don't want to know about using the tripod, eh...? :-D ;-)

Hi Marcello.. NO, not at all, I can't stand it, it takes away all the "process" and the manual pleasure of photographing, and now it's a godsend for me, between software that makes sidereal ISOs easily usable and cameras that allow sharp photos even at a second handheld...

to have green Patriarchs so around the streets of the cities...
Aosta capital then is lacking in trees, indeed if they can they cut to make way for the nonsense of the politician of the day.
Long live the Trees that are beautiful in your photo
bye and have a nice day

Thank you Carmine. Well here there are many trees because we are practically in the countryside.

Excellent and interesting technical explanation but most of all beautiful recovery.
