Il bacino dell'Acqua Fraggia è situato all'imbocco ovest della Val Bregaglia ed il Il torrente omonimo nasce dal pizzo di Lago a 3050 mt. L'Acqua Fraggia forma una serie di cascate, di cui quelle più in basso, con il loro doppio salto sono solo le più suggestive. Si capisce così l'origine del nome Acqua Fraggia, da "acqua fracta", cioè torrente continuamente interrotto da cascate. Di queste cascate, con il loro maestoso spettacolo, ne parlò Leonardo da Vinci che "trovandosi a passare per Valle di Ciavenna" ne ammirò la bellezza selvaggia e le menzionò nel suo "Codice Atlantico": "Su per detto fiume (la Mera) si truova chadute di acqua di 400 braccia le quale fanno belvedere...". Questo fa parte di uno degli ultimi miei pellegrinaggi, non pensavo di poter continuare a girare l'Italia dopo la mia pensione, e questo rappresenta per me un regalo che mi ha offerto la vita, di poter continuare a fare le cose che mi piacciono di più.
