Duomo di Monza --- Dedicato a S. Giovanni Battista, è il monumento cittadino di maggior rilievo. L'altare maggiore, realizzato fra il 1793 e il 1798 da Andrea Appiani è in marmo e bronzo dorato con inserti di ametista e lapislazzuli. Il paliotto della mensa, al centro del presbiterio, è un capolavoro dell'oreficeria gotica lombarda: la decorazione racconta la Vita di S. Giovanni Battista e al centro è raffigurato il Battesimo di Cristo. Anche sulle pareti del coro sono riportare le Storie di S. Giovanni Battista. A sinistra dell'altare maggiore sorge la Cappella di Teodolinda (non fotografabile), le cui prestigiose pitture murali degli Zavattari, capolavoro del gotico internazionale della metà del XV secolo, rappresentano devozione e omaggio alla regina. La Cappella custodisce la Corona Ferrea, da secoli considerata simbolo e leggenda e l'opera di oreficeria tra le più importanti e significative di tutta la storia della cristianità. Un'antica tradizione vuole infatti che l'anello presente all'interno della Corona sia stato ricavato da uno dei chiodi della Croce di Cristo.
