Questa meravigliosa quercia solitaria si trova nel Comune di Pienza, nel cuore della Val d'Orcia. La pianta, che ha almeno 370 anni, è alta 22 metri e d'estate vanta una splendida chioma che può raggiungere un diametro di 34 metri. La checca, o cecca, è il nome con la quale in Toscana si indica la gazza. L'albero è anche conosciuto come Quercia delle Streghe, perché secondo un'antica leggenda in passato era il luogo in cui esse si incontravano in occasione dei sabba, un convegno durante il quale venivano compiute pratiche magiche e riti blasfemi. È fra le poche piante ad essersi salvata dal disboscamento effettuato nella zona per la realizzazione del tratto di ferrovia Roma-Firenze. Nel 2017 ha ottenuto il riconoscimento di primo monumento verde d'Italia.
