Russia, uno dei custodi del Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, sta coccolando il piccolo Loteku, per farlo addormentare. Luteku ha perso la famiglia mentre stava attraversando un fiume. La corrente l'ha trascinato a valle verso una cascata e ha lottato con tutte le sua forze per rimanere a galla. Due ranger, chiamati sul posto, si sono lanciati coraggiosamente nel fiume gelido e impetuoso per tirarlo in salvo. Il giovane elefante non ha riscontrato ferite gravi, ma sfortunatamente non sono riusciti a ritrovare la sua famiglia. Si è quindi deciso di trasportarlo qui a Reteti, dov'è stato nominato Loteku, che significa "il salvato". Reteti è il primo orfanotrofio per elefanti in Africa inaugurato nel 2016, è stato creato per salvare, far crescere e poi rilasciare in libertà i piccoli elefanti abbandonati o rimasti orfani per colpa del bracconaggio.
