Appartenente alla famiglia delle Crassulaceae, il Sempervivum grandiflorum Haw è comunenemente chiamato Semprevivo a fiori grandi. L'areale in cui vive in Italia, sopra i 1.300 m. slm. sino ai bordi delle nevi eterne, è limitato al Piemonte ed alla Valle d'Aosta ed è pianta abbastanza rara tranne che intorno al Monte Rosa dove cresce abbondantemente. Sempervivum: dal latino sempre vivo, probabilmente per la resistenza di questa pianta in ambienti ostili e siccitosi, grandiflorum: per i fiori che sono relativamente grandi se confrontati con quelli delle specie congeneri. In erboristeria, come per gli altri Semprevivi, le foglie schiacciate si usano per curare calli, verruche, scrpolature e bruciature. Scatto effettuato nel 2008 all'Alpe Campo, sopra ad Alagna Valsesia, a circa 1.925 m. slm.
