A Milano i vigili urbani vengono tuttora soprannominati “ghisa”. Si tratta di un nomignolo nato nella seconda metà dell'ottocento e che, nella città lombarda, è rimasto un affettuoso appellativo per i tutori dell'ordine cittadino.... ....la loro uniforme prevedeva un copricapo di forma cilindrica che fece nascere per i vigili urbani l'appellativo di “ghisa"....
