Comment late this shot and I do not without having read all the comments !
There is nothing to add !
These same feelings I felt when I visited the Austrian war cemetery in Vigo that you know well.
I had captioned the posted snap "Nicht zu vergessen - Not to forget."
Paul, my thanks for posting the photo and for what you tell in the caption !
A dear greeting!
Maximum :-)

If... humanity will not learn to LOVE THE PROSSIMO HOW IF YOU ARE ANOTHER STESSO, then nothing will be worth the suffering perpetrated in all wars!!! Angel

Ciao Paolo
Loris

The "beautiful" or the best or the unreachable of this site.
I already considered your knowledge an authentic honour, you are among those (not many indeed) who represent hope and the desire to believe that the kind of belonging is not only falsehood, greed and selfishness.
Nothing else needed, I assure you, but you still give me consistent proof, both for what you write, and, above all, for what you have done, for your heartfelt visit on that mountain.
Thank you dear friend.

Complimenti Paolo
Bellissimo documento.
Ciao
Sergio

Dear Sergio, your examination is wonderful, precisely because it does not enter into the merits of the judgment of history.
The thought you give to your grandfather is of absolute excellence, romantic, many would say, but I think, at most, of that appreciation that comes from our experience, from our experiences that lead us to esteem more and more our ancestors.
Thank you Sergio.

My grandfather also participated in this war. He, too, was lightly wounded twice. He too with soul and mind infected with horrible memories, ghosts without mercy. He had four photos, too. One was lost a few years after I was born. The other three never showed them to me, and when he died, he wanted them with him in the coffin. After fifteen years, my grandmother went to join him. In the house where they lived, ruined in an old chest, I found the photo that had disappeared. I can't publish it, I only showed it to my father and brother. Every now and then I look at her and a shiver of fear runs down my spine. Greetings Rino.
