E' l'8 marzo, sono in Piazza Vittorio per la tradizionale manifestazione delle donne. Vedo affluire le partecipanti al corteo che partirà fra poco. Arriva la ragazza della foto ed il ricordo va subito, per la notevole somiglianza, ad Angela Davis, attivista americana degli anni 70, diventata famosa in tutto il mondo all'epoca per una ingiusta detenzione nelle carceri statunitensi. La Davis risulterà innocente e verrà assolta con formula piena. Ma proprio dal carcere Angela scriverà alcune delle pagine più famose della contestazione statunitense, tanto da meritare tre canzoni in suo onore: Angela del Quartetto Cetra (la prima in assoluto, scritta nel 1971) Angela di John Lennon e Yoko Ono, e Sweet Black Angel dei Rolling Stones. In Francia, la sua liberazione fu sostenuta, fra gli altri, anche da Jean-Paul Sartre.
