Andando ad Amalfi non si può non notare la suggestiva cattedrale normanna che si erge in cima a una lunga e monumentale scalinata, sovrastando la piazza principale della cittadina. Il Duomo è dedicato a Sant'Andrea, patrono della città, e la struttura risale al IX secolo, tempo in cui Amalfi era una delle quattro potenze commerciali del Mediterraneo, assieme a Pisa, Genova e Venezia, note come Repubbliche Marinare.
