Il principato abbaziale di Seborga era una minuscola entità territoriale, autonoma da una data imprecisata fino al 31 gennaio 1729, governata dall'abate dell'abbazia di Lerino, nell'isola di Sant'Onorato, di fronte a Cannes. Costituiva un'enclave nella repubblica di Genova e dipendeva dalla contea di Provenza, poi dal regno di Francia e dai Savoia. Il borgo (500 metri di altitudine), noto per l'attività secentesca della sua zecca, si trova oggi a dodici chilometri da Bordighera, in provincia di Imperia, non lontano da Dolceacqua e Sanremo.
