Ieri mattina ho fatto una passeggiata nel vecchio quartiere di Gratosoglio, ed ecco che cosa ho scoperto: A sud della città, in un'area caratterizzata ancora dalla presenza di campi, sorge questa piccola chiesa, scrigno di bellezze artistiche. L'edificio è ricco di documenti d'arte che illustrano gli sviluppi della cultura lombarda dal XVI al XIX secolo e conserva un organo restaurato e restituito al suo antico splendore. Per quanto riguarda la denominazione della chiesa, si deve fare riferimento ai ronchetti, che sono i campi strappati alla boscaglia. Proprio ai ronchetti si costituì la popolazione attorno al nucleo religioso originario costituito dagli oratori di San Pietro e di S. Materno. Durante l'arrivo dei barbari, in particolare a seguito delle devastazioni di Milano da parte degli Unni di Attila, questa zona ebbe un incremento di popolazione in fuga dalla città, che si raccolse proprio in questa zona che offriva campi da coltivare. Da un documento si ha notizia della presenza della chiesa San Pietro e Paolo intorno al 1300, quando ormai, terminate le invasioni barbariche, Milano aveva conquistato gradatamente l'autonomia e il predominio in Lombardia, sotto la guida dei Torriani e poi dei Visconti. Questi ultimi divennero proprietari di parecchio terreno, subito fuori delle mura cittadine, in quel Ronchetto medio o Ronchettino, chiamato poi visconteo, che, unito ai Ronchetti inferiore e superiore, formò, appunto, i Tre Ronchetti.
