Lungo quasi 80 km e largo 14 km, il Mar Morto si trova a quasi 400 metri sotto il livello del mare, in una delle più profonde depressioni terrestri. La zona è scarsamente popolata e la fauna marina totalmente inesistente perchè l'elevata salinità dell'acqua non consente nessuna forma di vita. Il Mar Morto, locato sul confine tra Giordania ed Israele, offre la possibilità di un bagno diverso. Ed è corretto dire “bagno” invece di “nuotata” perché nuotare è impossibile: a causa dell'alta concentrazione di sale si galleggia troppo per poter fare delle bracciate ed è indispensabile prestare attenzione a non bagnare la faccia per evitare schizzi negli occhi. Non si tratta perciò di una località dove trascorrere un soggiorno mare, ma di un particolarissimo luogo da visitare in giornata o dove trascorrere un paio di giorni di relax, coccolandosi in uno dei numerosi hotel con SPA che costeggiano le sue rive. La profondità massima è di 4 metri ma il livello delle acque scende ogni anno. Tanto che alcuni scienziati prevedono che il Mar Morto potrebbe prosciugarsi entro il 2050. Perciò, se potete, non perdete tempo ed andateci! Un consiglio: se avete tagli sulla pelle evitate di entrare in acqua…vi brucerebbero terribilmente! Visitando la Terrasanta, fate quest'esperienza, io l'ho fatta, in fondo una vigorosa doccia ti toglie tutto il sale di dosso. Commenti, consigli e critiche sempre super gradite. Grazie
