L'ambiente fu utilizzato come Sala di Udienza dalla Principessa Maria José durante la sua permanenza torinese tra il 1930 e il 1933. Qui la Principessa era solita accogliere non solo la corte, ma anche intellettuali, letterati, musicisti e cultori delle arti e spesso intratteneva gli ospiti suonando il pianoforte. Il soffitto d'ispirazione neoclassica si deve alla committenza carloalbertina e presenta decorazioni pittoriche con scene bucoliche, cortei bacchici e grandi figure con strumenti musicali. Alle pareti dipinti celebrativi della storia sabauda, mentre gli arredi sono inseriti secondo l'impostazione del ricevimento: un salotto centrale con divano circolare (al cui centro domina il gruppo marmoreo raffigurante tre figli di Vittorio Emanuele II di Giuseppe Albertroni) affiancato da uno splendido tronetto e intorno due salotti distinti, dotati di sedie palagiane e di pregevoli tavoli in legno intarsiato realizzati da ebanisti nizzardi intorno alla metà del XIX secolo. Sulle consoles, due vasi ottocenteschi provenienti dalla manifattura francese di Sèvres, verosimilmente giunti nel Palazzo durante il regno di Vittorio Emanuele II. Il tappeto, con fogliame e infiorescenze stilizzate, riprende motivi cachemire tipici dei tessuti di provenienza indiana in voga nella moda europea alla metà dell'Ottocento.
