IL Dall'Ara, nato come Littoriale, fu il primo vero stadio ad essere costruito in Italia e modello per quelli costruiti successivamente. Lo stadio Littoriale fu ideato e voluto Da Leandro Arpinati Podestà di Bologna. Fu terminato 29 ottobre 1926. Il proprio Battesimo l'ebbe il 29 maggio 1927 con un incontro tra le nazionali di Spagna ed Italia terminata 2-0 per i nostri colori colori. il 5 giugno 1927 anche il Bologna , abbandonato il vecchio Sterlino, si trasferisce nel nuovo Stadio. La torre Maratona fu terminata nel 1929. Simbolo della competizione e della resistenza degli atleti, fu progettata da Giulio Arata ed innalzata nel luogo in cui avvenne l'esecuzione di Ugo Bassi. Alta 42 metri e Larga 42 metri, si articola su 6 livelli con 2 terrazze panoramiche intermedie che si aprono ai primi 2 livelli della struttura turriforme, mentre nel 3 livello venne realizzata la sala comandi dell'illu-minazione dell'intero impianto sportivo. I vari piani sono collegati tra loro da una serie di scale, alle quali furono poi aggiunti 2 ascensori, uno interno ed uno esterno per rendere più agevole la salita alla sommità. Sul pennone della torre fu collocata una statua rappresentante la Vittoria alata con fascio littorio. Mentre nella nicchia dell'arco monumentale rivolta verso l'interno della stadio trovò sede la statua equestre di Mussolini. La struttura in ferro su realizzata per i mondiali del 1990 deturpando il monumento ora intotolato al defunto presidente Renato Dall'Ara.....Tutte le foto contenute in questa galleria sono copyright di Mauro Monesi e non possono essere utilizzate in alcuna forma senza il consenso dell'autore.....
