Antonio.

Hello Antonio. I too have seen a kite a few days ago near the Tiber, at the height of the ring road. The climate is changing rapidly, and so the migratory habits of our feathered friends. Congratulations for the photo, a very elegant to manage it. :-)

Antonio, I was writing notes to "black kite off season" when I saw this. It 's true what he says Giordano. Accomplice to the greenhouse effect, and not only that, now the black kites start to stay the winter. Especially if around overwinter also red kites, it depends on the place. Not really a lot, but it happens. About 25 years ago, seeing a first kite in winter, they made strange hypothesis of escapees who held them illegally, maybe imprinted and misfits, or released from visitor centers, or debilitated and unable to perform migrations. Far from it. They decide to just do it, and even in small groups. You're right, this here is just sedentary as you say, and did not anticipate the migration, it is also understood from the plumage ordered to one who is in the chair without facing exhausting journeys. maybe in previous winter months it was just out of your favorite areas and onlyin February he showed up.

I admire you very much for your understanding, I started around the end of 2013 and frankly I have not spent much time in the study in the true sense of the word, I have invested a lot of time in research and study of the routes and then I also dedicate it to other species ( no birds of prey).
Then came the discovery of a site owl and there are crazy, just photos but not very close, I kept at a distance, then gradually I approached, hours and hours of waiting many times empty, but when she came in looked a boy.
Too exciting, I am now five months since I've been around for not being too intrusive but I observed from afar, sometimes I'm afraid of something happening that force us to go away and mind very much miss the excitement of seeing her appear after spending at least 3 hours in the shed

Research and study of the routes are essential. We'll talk again. Well your gradualness and attention to site owl, never overdoing it. Tighten the distances mean to disturb you and miss better opportunities. Respect of a species repays with good photos, go to the boarding means just steal a shot if it goes well, disturb the animal and you will never know that the best photo you have lost. The owl has become a model!

I agree with you Lambros, in fact as I have written five months that I do not go the distance and just like that, she accepted the shed at this distance and I are fine. Thanks Josh

What else to add to this interesting discussion.
I refer to what was said long ago compared to the better performance that the young brown in photographs.
And in fact this is just a young (dark iris, black mask on the eye) well-portrait.
