No I didn't use any filter, actually I only shoot RAW, I don't have time to tune my camera for JPEG shooting on any different lights. I only use over and under exposition and most of the time I'm on Aperture priority. Regarding APS-C vs D800, of course there is a difference, DOF, ISO management, no factor crop so that's better for wide angle. However I've a D7000 and this camera is just fantastic too and I will never resell it. The best of the D800 is the high resolution and the dynamic ISO management. The very high dynamic range is also something which let you recover a lot of detail.
