Istambul. La Cisterna Basilica venne edificata nel 532 dall'Imperatore Giustiniano per rifornire di acqua potabile la città. Misura 140 x 70 metri, le 336 colonne sono alte 9 metri. I capitelli delle colonne sono diversi tra loro essendo stati recuperati da vari siti. Caduta in disuso venne riscoperta intorno al 1550 e successivamente sottoposta ad un primo restauro nel 1987 a cui ne seguirono altri negli anni successivi.
