Il Gufo Comune è Esclusivamente Notturno, Caccia una grande varietà di piccoli animali, quali topi, talpe, scoiattoli, pipistrelli, uccelli e insetti. Durante il giorno dorme nelle cavità degli alberi o in vecchi ruderi, perfettamente mimetizzato dal piumaggio. Le sue dimensioni variano fra i 35cm e 40cm di lunghezza, con un apertura alare di 90-100 cm. Il Gufo non può muovere gli occhi, in compenso riesce a ruotare la testa di ben 270 gradi. Nidifica tra marzo e maggio in base alla zona, quando c'è cibo a sufficienza può avere anche 2 covate.

Eeeek!!!L'immagine è a dir poco spettacolare; sembrerebbe addirittura avere un'eterocromia delle iridi; ovviamente mi piace....però....l'hai battezzato Gufo Comune, ovviamente avrai le tue ragioni; io ho solo conoscenze dilettantesche, tuttavia questo mi sembra più un gufo di palude (Asio flammeus): come il gufo comune appartiene all'ordine dei Strigiformes, ma sono due specie diverse: il gufo di palude ha ciuffi auricolari molto piccoli e spesso poco visibili, mentre il gufo comune ha ciuffi auricolari ben evidenti e pronunciati. Immagino però che dove l'hai fotografato avrai raccolto indicazioni per identificarlo correttamente.
Infine.... Fotograficamente non capisco come sia possibile che, partendo da una messa a fuoco perfetta sugli occhi e la testa dell'uccello, con conseguentemente i sassi a qualche spanna davanti all'uccello ovviamente già sfuocati, ebbene, non capisco come allontanandoci ancor di più dall'uccello e dai sassi, la testa e particolarmente gli occhi riflessi dall'acqua siano così nitidamente a fuoco .
